SNOWSKIPPERS NEWSLETTER MARCH 2010
WE NEED YOUR
HELP!! PARTNERS RIDE IS March 27!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR A GREAT DAY WITH PARTNER KIDS. This is our last club gathering on the snow. This is scheduled for March 27, 2010.
We should have 24 – 30 kids participate. These kids will arrive to be shuttled
to a cook out in the snow. It is a
fabulous time to volunteer some time to put some smiles on a lot of kid’s
faces. We need as many sleds as we can get. This is a community service event that we do for the kids who
normally do not get to experience the beauty of the mountains and the thrill of
riding a snow machine. Later in the winter provides milder conditions for
this event. Please help us; it takes just a half of a day. We are
finished with the kids after lunch. I’m sure some will go for an
afternoon ride afterwards. If you
can participate please contact Phil Smith at 216-6804/243-5456 or Andy Kelley
at 260-3182. Sometimes a few extra
socks, jackets and even helmets come in handy on this ride for any kids that
need a little extra. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
NOMINATIONS FOR BOARD MEMBERS: Nominations
are currently being taken for board positions for the coming season. Positions available are: President, Vice President, and Newsletter. If you are interested in volunteering for any
of these positions please contact Dale Hollingshead at 216-2389. Voting will be at our April Meeting.
Help fight the fight to
keep our wilderness roads open: This is a call out
to anyone with gps records of rides, trails and anything in Colorado on snow, dirt or other that you
have on gps memory. They are putting together a data base for COHVCO to use
when people want to propose wilderness and proclaim that there are no roads or
trails in the area. If you have any questions you can contact MARK at
COHVCO. Please send any gps information
you are willing to share to mnewby@cohvco.org.
COME join us at our NEXT MEETING – April 13, @ 6:30
It’s FINGER FOOD NIGHT.
Bring a snack to share. Make it
simple.
Location: Posse Barn (Mesa County Sheriff’s Posse Arena) located
at 648 25 road at corner of 25 Road and F 1/2 Road. SEE YOU THERE!
8-BALL
AWARD : Most people raise their
windows on their vehicle to keep the snow out and some people lower their
window to let the snow in their vehicle.
8-Ball Award goes to Dave Bagg.
Runners Up were:
Chuck Perkins – Four Bunge’s and 2 sleds to get out of a hole, and
Tucker (Stucker): WOW LOOK!
I’M STUCK TOO!!!
SARC: The
amount of training that is done by our volunteer snowskippers to participate in
SARC takes many hours. Not only are they
trained for special procedures, they are always prepared to respond to an
urgent call for help if needed.
Snowskippers has 46 members who are trained in rescue procedures SARC .
SHARE YOUR
PICTURES: If you have pictures from this winter’s snowskipper’s ride
and would like to share them, please copy them to a disc and bring them to Todd Larson at the next meeting. These pictures will then be given to Suzzie
Larson to publish on our Web Site.

on the + sign my District 8 and then click on G.J. Western Slope Snowmobile
